ABOUT US

Co-founded in 2013 by Serena Joseph-Harris and Joel Anthony Harris. Sirius International Caribbean Defence Contractors Limited was first incorporated under the Companies Act of Trinidad and Tobago on 27th May 2013.

WE DON'T COMPLAIN... WE DO AND EXECUTE AS WILLED

Serena Joseph-Harris the company's CEO and Joel Anthony Harris the corporate secretary co-founded Sirius International in the summer of 2013 with a  preliminary objective of grounding policy briefs and publications on a business model. Later on, it had evolved into a defence contracting firm focused primarily on formulating policies and strategies for combating crime, threats, terrorism, and asymmetric warfare at the local and regional levels, while providing the prerequisite tools advancing the cause of nation-building in Trinidad and Tobago.

Serena Joseph-Harris a former High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and an erstwhile director of Strategic Services Agency who continues to function in international circles as a policy analyst, strategist, and a notable writer. Company director Joel Anthony Harris, the de facto pillar of Sirius International's soft power portfolio serves in multiple capacities as program director, youth outreach coordinator, principal editor, creative design and production and presenter/public speaker.

The team's first book, The Alpha Barrier of North-South Dialogue signaled the launch of a trilogy that became the topic of a round table strategic forum hosted at the Institute of National Strategic Studies (INSS), National Defence University, Washington D.C. in April 2010. For the follow-up, The Twilight of America's Omnipresence, director Joel served as project manager, determining the book's thematic elements, chapters, and overall scope. At the same time, Joel worked as the principal researcher, editor, and had a role in the cover design. Written over a period of five years and finally published in 2015, the book became the subject of the CEO's oral testimony at the joint session of the Sub-committee of Asia/Pacific and Sub-committee of the Western Hemisphere of the U.S. House of Representatives on Capitol Hill, Washington D.C. on September 10, 2015. As of lately, Joel is the project manager, co-author, and principal researcher of the forthcoming and final volume of a trilogy, to be titled, On the Throes of Transition: A Vertical Analysis of International Terrorism. The book promises to be a trailblazer in that Director Joel has approached the subject of terrorism and contextualized it to reflect both the immediacy and relevance of the phenomenon from a West Indian post-colonial perspective.

Capping the company's 2015 achievements, Director Joel Harris pioneered a three-month national workshop series at the Heritage Library, Port of Spain in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. Doubling as program coordinator and featured presenter, he delivered a groundbreaking workshop series adapted from themes touched upon in The Twilight of America's Omnipresence and re-purposed specifically to align with the existing school curriculum, so that students saw real world analogues and practical components to their studies. Both students and the teachers that supervised them represented a cross-section of high school seniors from the denominational and state-controlled schools. Moreover, upon special request the corporate secretary was asked to do a follow-up presentation on site at St. Mary's College, one of Trinidad top denominational schools in the Port of Spain area. At the core of the series was the goal of raising awareness on the Caribbean functioning as a chessboard upon which great powers vie for strategic advantage, highlighting the region's vulnerabilities, threats, and challenges while spurring the youth to assume leadership roles as a necessary step to the monumental task of nation-building.

Sirius International was awarded a contract by the government to develop a National Security Policy and Implementation Plan (2018-2023) for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Director Joel edited the entire document and made substantial inputs on entries relating to climate change and alternative energy.

Between Oct. '17 and Jan. 22, '18, I hosted a masculinity workshop at St. Mary's College, Port of Spain for Lower Form Six students. In April, I led a literary workshop for Form 3 students at St. Francois Girls' College and concluded a counter-radicalization series in March 2019.
